Preventative care and aggressive general dentistry simply cannot address every dental issue. For serious dental issues, we sometimes need to use oral surgery to fix your mouth or place permanent solutions that will bring back your smile.
At Oregon City Family Dentistry, our doctors are trained to offer safe oral surgery. We use the latest technology and have minimally invasive techniques that reduce your recovery time. We are a leading provider in placing dental implants for Oregon City, West Linn, and Gladstone dental patients, and we also offer extractions, including extractions.
Placing Dental Implants
Dr. Annalisa Smith has undergone hours in continuing education to place dental implants and perform bone grafting. Dental implants are the most revolutionary treatment available in dentistry, and the procedure is minimally invasive and often no more uncomfortable than having a filling placed.
Sinus lifts and bone grafts are often recommended for patients who have worn removable dentures for years and do not have the jaw density to support dental implants. A sinus lift procedure involves lifting the sinus membrane and then adding bone to the upper jaw, usually by the molars, to provide support for the dental implants. Dr. Annalisa can do socket preservation grafts to better support dental implants.
With proper jawbone density, we can place dental implants that will naturally fuse to your bone through a process known as osseointegration. After the jawbone has healed, we’ll restore the implant with beautiful bridges or permanent dentures.
While we want your permanent teeth to last forever, in some cases, teeth need to be removed. The most common form of extraction involves removing failing or heavily damaged teeth that cannot be restored, though we do remove teeth to prevent alignment or bite issues. Infected teeth that are beyond repair are especially important to remove because the infection can then spread to your nearby healthy teeth.
As a dental provider for children and adults, we also offer wisdom tooth removal. Wisdom teeth are known as third molars and typically develop in your late teens or early 20s. Wisdom teeth are unique because they develop well after your permanent adult teeth. Wisdom teeth are often impacted and grow in at an angle, which threatens your healthy alignment or bite.
Some patients have all of their wisdom teeth develop at the same time, while others have them develop sporadically. Our office will monitor the development of your teeth and wisdom teeth during every visit, and we’ll present you with treatment options after we see the first signs of wisdom tooth development.
Our office is unique in that we can handle all of your dental care under one roof. From oral surgery to extractions, our Oregon City dental team will provide gentle and comprehensive care. Call us today at 503-656-8250 or use the online form to schedule your first appointment.
